Fall Is In The Air: Caramel Apples

I have been baking A LOT lately, everything from baked ziti, homemade garlic rolls, enchiladas, homemade calzones, potato wedges, to caramel apples! I decided that i'm going to start posting them on my blog (the ones that turn out okay.) When we have something that turns out great I want to share it with everyone so that other people have the opportunity to try it out.

Caramel Apples

Ingredients:

10 Large Granny Smith Apples
2 Bags White Chocolate Chips
2 Bags Kraft Caramels (or if you are feeling up to making homemade caramel)
1/2 Cup Sugar mixed with about 1-2 teaspoons of Cinnamon
10 Popsicle Sticks
Wax Paper

 1. Wash & Dry Apples. Keep apples cold, it works much better.

2. Put popsicle sticks in the apples.

 3. In a medium saucepan melt caramel according to package directions.

4. Dip apples in melted caramel making sure to fully coat it.

Let it drip then take a knife to scrape off the bottom so you do not have a large foot of caramel when dried.

5. Place on parchment or wax paper that has been sprayed with cooking spray heavily on a cooking sheet.

6. Cool in the fridge until caramel is set up. 1-2 hours is best.

7. Melt chocolate chips in 30 second intervals. I added a little vegetable oil to help the chocolate not be so thick.

8. Coat the apple with the chocolate and then sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture.

9. Cool completely in the fridge & ENJOY!
